Philip “Spike” Edney was born on 11 December 1951 in Portsmouth. Nickname – The Duke.

Since the early 1970s, has performed with a several bands, he worked with Duran Duran, the Boomtown Rats, Dexys Midnight Runners, Bucks Fizz, Haircut One Hundred and The Rolling Stones.

Since 1984 he was working with Queen providing additional guitar, keyboards and backing vocals. Spike was part of Taylor’s The Cross and The Brian May Band (1993 and 1998).

He plays keyboards, bass, guitar and trombone.

After The Cross disbanded in 1994, he formed SAS (Spike’s All Stars), a band with constantly fluctuating personnel.

He has also been the keyboardist for the London production of Queen’s musical “We Will Rock You” since it opened in 2002.

Edney is also the musical director of the official Queen tribute band, the Queen Extravaganza.

He recorded with Manic Street Preachers, Renaud, Peter Green, Joe Cocker, Ian Hunter, Brian May, Virginia Wolf, The Boomtown Rats.
